An unforgettable birthday

Two dozen roses. Purple picked some with an eye to making sure they'd dry into a nice color. (Red roses dry too black to look attractive in anything but a gothy/macabre setting. Lighter colored dried roses can look quaint, but because they're dead, they still pass for gothy too. Multi-tasking!)
... Dad'll be relieved that I've managed to get other people to get me roses. For long time he was the only one who gave me roses. In college it was a mega-bummer to be reminded that I was a girl only her father would give flowers to, ("roses from the wrong man"), so I stopped him.
On my 25th, Ariel/Talitha gave me flowers, with roses. (If the rest of the second ottoman empire could kindly make sure I have the right address in time for her next big birthday, that would be muchly appreciated. I would like to return the favor someday. Same year, but months earlier, so whenever I think "o a big birthday" I realize, "drat, I've forgotten hers again.")
My growing collection of dead roses even inspired a painting last year, which in turned spawned an entire stickynote pad of random roses throughout my place. ...
Purple's roses were mostly light pink, with a few magenta ones. (The ones my manager got me were peach, which should likely dry nicely too.) It wasamusing really quite nice to carry roses around for the rest of the night. Luckiy,
dougo gave me his gift, The StarGate SG1 Board Game, before we headed downtown for tapas. Aside from how well roses look in a Spanish setting, I suspect carrying a board game probably wouldn't have bolstered my insecurities about not being not hip enough for Newbury Street.
And Landsowne, when they realized I'd never been to Jillian's. I effectively never will, since apparently it has been completely revamped to be rendered unrecognizable. Just bowling and pool now, apparently there used to be arcade games. But it was pleasant, although I suck at pool. Much easier to take when not at The Diesel, sucking at pool in front of God and Roland and Everyone.
And, I was having a good hair day. At least three people remarked about it. I don't know what I did, but I hope it keeps happening. (I'd been thinking of chopping it all off this birthday, or maybe when my Dad died. Perhaps it's looking its best in self-defense. Not quite long enough for locks of love yet anyway.)
I came home to find
jbsegal had left me presents on my doorstep. A Beach Cthulhu, with flip-flops, and a Kthulhu Kreme shirt. :)
srakkt was wondering about a belated present. I'd like to be taken out on a nice night to dine/drink at a nice outside table on Newbury street. Not something that can really be planned in advance, so perhaps when you're more local. Or as a suggestion in case the rest of you are stumped. grin
Speaking of driving in nice weather, I am off to Mom's for Easter. Probably arriving too late to join in her Saturday bridge game...
