getting to see more than a lone Lothar perform. At their "peak", The Lothars apparently had 4 theramins on stage at once. Tonight they were 2 theramin, an amplified hammer dulcimer, and an electric recorder thingie. Not too shabby.
Robert Byrd is great, but, it felt odd to be sitting an auditorium to hear him. I should be on the playa, while he plays along to silent movies shown on makeshift screens that ripple in the wind.
The music sorta recalled that middle-aged couple at the Kirkland Art Center in, like, 1995, who made a xylophone out of stolen pieces of the Burgess Shale, which meant nothing more to them than rocks with delightful pitch. (!)
Robin Hobb (The author of The Book) wrote back to my rescinded inquiry about worldcon. (I wrote on Monday, then checked the web site to find a newsgroup where she formally announced regrets at not being able to attend Noreascon. And so I sent a follow-up akin to "nevermind. found answer via your site links" precisely so she wouldn't have to answer if she didn't want to. And she did anyway. Which was rockin'.)
Also, one of my favorite people ever has some novel research regarding the traditional definitions of marriage.
