she describes freedom as "not addiction".
which means our society has never really been free.
a decade ago, someone suggested that even if you only do something once a year (the example at the time was Pennsic), but you have to do it, it is still an addiction.
With that, I am off to Arisia.
... and not the Hunt (ARRR!) even though I mean to someday do that instead. (I'm not sure if I'm sorry or glad to miss a pirate theme this year. I want to stop wearing out my fondness for pirates. Then again, with pirates o so hip, it makes resources for such a theme highly accessible.)
Up until 3:30 am last night, helping
miss_chance with Arisia signage, in the office that isn't there, on the floor that doesn't exist. The conversation was enlightening as always. My car started. It finally admitted a negative fahrenheit reading. I thought at first it just couldn't register temps below zero, or perhaps it was in denial, but the little -7 on the dash was the car saying "see how much I rock? Haven't I earned that oil change yet?"
(Make it through the weekend in stasis and we'll see.)
Even though the thermostat is no higher than 60, my room still felt toasty, even after being in the overheated hotel. Joy.
