I should've figured it out when College Ave was that clogged, in the usually unclogged direction, at the late hour of 9 am; turned around, gone to the gym, soaked in the hot tub, made myself breakfast, Something Other Than Trying to Drive.

By 10 am, I had made it, via backroads, to a strip mall in Waltham with a dunkin donuts. Not only did I need the coffee for its drug value, but I needed fluid to wash down an advil. I'm already havinbg a bout of lower back pain. An hour of stop and go had its way with me. The same time in high speed traffic is ok, relaxing even. (I pretty much grew up on interstates, so they're usually a homey comfort to me, which means I sometimes won't use them if I'm afraid of being too relaxed.)

Reached the office parking lot by 10:40.

My supervisor, usually an hour or so commute from New Hamster, made it here in 4 hours. We applauded when she arrived. Well, those of us who are already here. (Which explains why I haven't seen a lot of LJ posts about this yet.)

Apparently there is a flash glacier starting somewhere in Lexington, and going a fair ways north.

This is the first time in at least three yars that I've had to deal with a driving commute during the first snow. I already knew Boston drivers suck, forgetting how to drive in snow Every Fucking Year. I'm glad to hear today is out of the ordinary, even for them.
