advil and aquaphor (...ramble on...)

Not only was my room All But Vacuumed Clean, fresh sheets, my neked sleeping self was not being poked by feathers all night because the featherbed was finally down-side up -- instead of upside down (let me pause for a moment and enjoy that turn of phrase... ah...), I woke up to a sunny morning that was almost precisely perfect running weather. The only improvement would've been if I'd had brought some running buddies, and not the kind that would've wanted to leave without enjoying any of the post-race party, or who would've been off being ill in the portajohns from pushing themselves more than they'd trained.
Even RedSuzy wasn't there as one of the actors this year. (There was an actor/reader on the course who looked (and sounded) A LOT like
akhond until I got a better look after the race.)
(*neither coolrunning.com or ramble.org list my time, but that's what I wrote in my datebook.)
I was just aiming to get at least one mile under 12:00. First mile, yay. Second mile, wow, yay. 5K, in 35 minutes, woot! Mile 4 and still under 12:00 pace, hot damn, starting now this is the furthest I've run since last July. (I meant to do 5 and 6 mile runs the past 2 weekends, but... I was busy.) Mile 5, still under 12:00? coolness... now I just need to finish without hurting myself (between suspected fever and expected pain, I'd premptively taken Advil), or the by then merged walkers, who don't quite grasp that there are still actual bibbed runners dodging their strollers and dogs and street-width mobs.
I found parking only 10 minutes before gun, so I didn't have time to snag swag until afterwards. No Movie Passes this year!! But, I trick-or-treated bottled water, soda, balance bars, (raw?) Irish Cheese, and sampled cookies, Panera cheesy bread things, Irish Soda Breads, and, of course, Beer.
I stretched and dozed in the sun, lazily watching little kids roll down the hill until I decided I should try to get something else done today. Drove back wondering if I should go to the gym hot tub or go home and try to make a dent in all the (perishable?) Lush stuff from
fangirl715. The flattened pink snowball solid shampoo lathers up nicely, as does the blue soap. And, as it turned out, when I pre-emptively Aquaphored likely chafing zones before the race, I forgot the underwear line... (wince)... the soap felt ok, but the rinsing it off stung. Hopefully, that'll be sufficiently better by tomorrow, and I can tub comfortably then.
Once clean, I still had enough time left to drag
prog to a couple of the NoCa open studios; swanky digs, Jen Fuchel's koi as always, Quincy's woodwork, and Janet Hobbs' lovely watercolors of urban fantasies, such as a lot with available parking.
Apparently, I got enough sun today that
kimberlogic and
prog both thought I was wearing blush.
Now to figure out what do with the rest of the day that doesn't oblige me to be on my feet much.
