She called this day's entry, A Woman of Substance.

Reminds me of an 80s miniseries that Mom insisted we tape. Like all of dad's America's Cup races (when it was down under and didn't conflict with ANYTHING anyone else might want to watch), the tapes rot in their video library. Since a lot of the Substance plot was of how the nobles bred with the servants (and denied it, then the next generation's cousins served their cousins, until one clever maid figured it out when the world was becoming democratic enough that she managed to take over and be the matriarch by the end), they carefully cast everyone with the same crystal clear blue eyes. This is what I remember most.

As the official season of Believing ebbs, SA lady warns us, Don't Stop. Do you believe? clap your hands etc., (I'd insert puking noises here but it's not as funny lately, what with the Norwalk Virus Holiday Diet Plan hitting so many of my friends.)

Don't Stop, Believing, Hold onto that fee-eee-eeeling. Journey as inner faeries? (My first exposure to anything vaguely SCAdian was a Steve Perry video. And I really loved how the guy played a photo of a keyboard in Separate Ways.)

Anyway, she reminds us of the cost of skepticism, how it kills your motivation before you really even try, depletes energy before it's spent.

Regard skepticism as an unaffordable luxury.
