SA 12/6 Lights
Dec. 6th, 2002 11:09 amShe gives us a run down of how without (C)Han(n)uk(k)a(h), Christmas never would've happened. Truly observant Christians should be observing Rabbi Jesus' religion too, right?
They had me at the latkes and matzoh ball soup. No philosophical motivation required. Then again, I gave up the Presbyterian Church because I'm still not sure if I'm spelling it correctly. In lieu of church suppers, (perhaps because the Methodists and Lutherans have got that covered), they have absolutely No Involvement With Food Whatsoever. As far as church shopping goes, I mostly like the UU. Which I suppose is sort of choosing not to make a choice.
Someday, I may make good on my threat to turn up at my freshman psychodrama's Friend meeting just to see how many hours in a row he'll cringe before he finally bails. (I'd probably lose that staring contest, I watched him barely flinch through a 4+ hour campusrant debate about how the mere existence of holiday trees on campus smacked of anti-Semitism. Yeah, there was A LOT OF LOVE in that room, I tell ya.) Course, he lives in a different time zone now (last I checked, which was years ago), and I'm old and my heart's not in it anymore. Rather, I'm not as heartless as I used to be.
Hopefully.
