cthulhia: (Boston outings)
This was a perfect first day to try out a dragon boat. The weather was gorgeous and I got to paddle through Earthfest (through the little canal area along the esplanade) amid cheering crowds.

We're not sure what they were cheering, precisely. We had barely enough interested folks to take even one boat over after practice, so, we weren't racing anyone. I suppose everyone's lizard brain just likes saying "Stroke! Stroke!" I blame Billy Squier! And I blame [personal profile] scottbateman for causing me to even think of Billy Squier this decade.

I stayed because I figured I should paddle with the other arm, to even things out. Rather than doing something gentle and familiar to my bod, like run for two hours, I try a new sport to make me new and different kinds of sore, so I will look and feel my best for my personal trainer tomorrow.

I haven't even mentioned the sunburn yet. Bwa ha ha ha. But, *ahem*, she'd be wise to not abuse that knowledge too much. I know she's been feeling overwhelmed by bananas lately, and they were giving them away at earthfest. I'm armed!

Speaking of Ba-Na-Nas, I bailed on Earthfest (pre-Guster, because the crowd just kept growing) and met up with the (NIN) Spiral dinner party at Davis. And, I tried to find numbers of people probaby at T-con. [profile] paat's number didn't work, [profile] mommagoth was somewhere else entirely, and... I've lost and replaced my phone memory card since last T-con, so I no longer have the local numbers. Sigh. (Maybe call me sometime Sunday afternoon.)
