um... I'm a temp, remember?

Luckily, this office is closed next Monday, so I only had to ask for this Friday off with insufficient notice. Got it. Slowly moving into Arisia mode.

However, the usually empty next cube over will be officially empty starting next month. Even telecommuting was too much. My first, unofficial warning that my contract will be extended and my workload significantly higher. So, I'd better get cracking on That Tarot Card before next month!

Between that and other developments, visiting [livejournal.com profile] bookly this March seems unlikely. sigh For the best, I suppose. My passport is still missing. Coolidge Corner will be doing the Oscar shorts then (after the winners have been announced, since the ceremony is oddly early this year, February 29th. Did they just covet leap day?) Perhaps I will finally invest in the custom-sized cartographer table I've been wanting since, o, 1996.

Never once is it suggested that I apply for the positions opening up. I've been assuming this was policy/annoyance with the agency's 20%. Now I'm wondering if they think I'm not interested, or if they simply find me unsuitable. I suppose I'll wait and see how much the workload increases before I decide to dip into my vast (but shallow) pool of tact to come up with an appropriate method of discreet inquiry.

it would be nice to have some idea of my options for [that dark day in april]. It falls on a weekend night so I feel I should do something. Good Friday, when too many are too Jewish for birthday cake. But, some would probably take me to Hell, now that it's smoke free.

After dim sum yesterday, checked out the brickbottom opening. I am resolving to do an exhibit a week (not counting new work at Diesel). However, I think making sure I have someone to see/discuss it with will clinch the deal. Next weekend's exhibit will be the Arisia Art show.

Then a last gasp/anti- holiday party with gingerbread houses. Too busy managing the kids, we left the math geeks unattended. Their experiment was determined to be a gingerbread modern art museum. The option of black frosting piqued adult interest in decorating.

Then home to assemble the holiday scrapbook, which was actually a lot of fun. I originally wasn't going to save the envelopes, but [livejournal.com profile] coraline's black cancellation on black was neat, [livejournal.com profile] ladycalliope's had a suspicious looking "stamp", the variety of grinch postmarks with perky holiday stamps was too amusing. (I forgot to save the colorado and austin postmarks, but still have Hawaii.)

I still have bags of "future burning man scrapbook" and "future nincon scrapbook". (I lost my latest fimo burning man pendant saturday night. I could say I traded it for the privilege of spending 15 minutes immersed in hot water, but I didn't need to. bummer.)

::

Finally, it's once again warm enough to snow. Pretty.
Someone brushed the snow off my car for me. Sweet.
The Christmas grapefruit survived a weekend in the office. The newer oranges did not. (Their siblings in my arctic apartment as doing fine. This place must've been disturbingly toasty over the weekend.) I was expecting the exact opposite. At least something survived long enough to provide breakfast.
