which is, you know, an ambitious title, but it devolves into a promo for philosophy cosmetics. Sorry, I just spent a small fortune at Origins getting a make-over for bridezilla. But, the packaging is nice.

The nut of the essay is from that company's cofounder, who suggests that once you stop making plans, things just happen.

I have my doubts about the letting it happen meme. I bailed on almost everything last week so I could stay home and be sickly, not only did amazing things continue to not happen, but, in lieu of actual rest, I got sucked into online games (alas, puzzle pirates is NOT mac friendly) and reruns of SG-1 (and WRKP, being shown in memoriam) until far past my bedtime.

This morning I woke naturally after 8 am, or right around then, wondering why my alarm hadn't gone off. (I may need to revise that morning-person LJ poll. Then again, the morning people who wake up naturally at 5 or 6 am probably scoff at the idea that waking up at 8 am qualifies as a morning person.) A late start for any 9-5'er. (Among the things for which I am regularly grateful is a lenient workplace. But that has a lot to do with being paid by the hour and not getting benefits, which usually are based on 40 hour weeks.)

Speaking of all that planning I'm not doing (heh), I pointedly ran 2 miles on the treadmill last night, since it would be unwise to let Saturday's 5K be the first time I've ran in a month. I am unsurprisingly sore.

Probably because by the end of the run I had to pee so much I only did the stretches that could be done standing, afraid of, um, wetting the mat. Granted, by that point in any sufficiently hydrated workout, urine probably isn't any more concentrated than sweat... just greater volume and more squik-ful. Anyway while my calves are unusually sedate, having been stretched enough, my usually silent hip-flexors have registered a complaint. Then again, that could be the pilates.

Pilates, for me, is one of those classes where, because I can't exactly match the form of the instructor, feels like I'm slacking too much, getting no work-out at all and wasting an hour. Then, sometime about 12 to 24 hours later, a sudden, overwhelming soreness informs me that, in fact, I was overdoing it.

This delayed feedback thing? Not working for me, ok?

My latest of periodic opportunities to get invited to exclusive screenings at http://www.landmarktheatres.com/ obliged me to look up the good restaurants near their local theaters. This led to http://www.waltham-community.org/restaurants.html -- I thought about this a great deal when I took my car to be inspected, which would've been a great time to have a vehicularly-enabled lunch date take me to Moody street. Instead I walked to the http://nakedfish.com/ (and resisted having a Mohito).

And felt bad for eating inside on a sunny day. One of the very nice things about this awfis is the outdoor seating for lunch. I should invite someone out here to do lunch with me, bag lunch, or picking up something on their way. Any takers? Weather being weather, I figure I can't plan these things until the target day. Even if it's nippy at 9, it's often sweater-nice by noon. So, if you look outside and feel so inspired, drop me a note. My cell gets inconsistent coverage in this building, one of the not very nice things.

I then searched for Peppermint Battys, since [livejournal.com profile] hammercock noticed their absence last year. No luck until I searched for Bat instead of Batty. Hell, while I have the credit card out, I decided to replace my Radio Free Vestibule CD, [livejournal.com profile] mangosteen has had it for so long now, it's probably legally his, and, he should have a copy.

Folks on chat suggested I buy several boxes of peppermint battys, but I explained that breaking and eating would be too easy. Shrinkwrap? Well, I used to do that with Zebb's cookies, which I didn't actually look up until people started discussing wings. Zebboriginal's are second only to Louisiana Lickers, to me. (Although, it looks like there's some newer, more recently award-winning Quaker Steak and Lube flavors to try.)

It turns out one of the Vestibules was bored enough at his day job to write back when I sent a plea that they perform in Boston. (I promptly replied with urls for potential venues.) Or maybe it was the comment about Radio Free Vestibule no longer being the weirdest make-out music I've heard. (That honor has since gone to Barnes & Barnes. )
