yay.

some lessons learned:
  • the actual street address needs to be on the postcards. don't assume people will check the web for more info (or even can, the main site apparently went down at some point yesterday. I had some dire voicemail once I turned my phone back on after the performance.)
  • I have more resources among my friends than I realized. Asking for easels a day earlier would've totally gotten me loans from a professional frameshop.
  • I did have an artist statement, or six. (The original intent to re-use abandoned canvases only happened with one piece, but it was there. The pieces made explicitly for the show had a deliberate yin-yang balance, for the equinox. I found myself explaining both a lot.)
  • I have to be very careful about how I bend over in that dress. ("You know you're not at burning man when...")
  • A lot of our friends are theater geeks. Perhaps we need an interactive evening where they HAVE to build and take down the set. (building a movable art maze might be fun. although I'm not sure I have the hands on skills for it. Although, having a "build a fort with old cardboard boxes" party might also be fun. Hmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.)
  • They ticket in union square after 5 pm, even though the meters go off at 6. grrrr.
I sold a couple pieces. YAY! (The two "inspired..." ones. Hours later, while still recovering from Peruvian Karaoke, I amused onlookers by pulling a cheque from my bra. "O, I totally forgot about this.") At least three folks are in a holding pattern around the Iskierka one. I may make an icon of it and keep showing it to you until one of you cracks. Mwa Ha Ha Ha.

Or, I could, like, try to get an art show that lasts for more than one evening.

People I remember seeing there: [profile] rikchik, jason, jennyh, [personal profile] prog , [profile] classicaljunkie , [profile] dictator555, nate, [personal profile] coolwhitestare (and her enormous lens), michael, mignon, [personal profile] dougo , [profile] ahkond , [1-2 folks I thought came in with them], [profile] hahathor, ed, jen, matthew, [+their friend whose name I should know], [personal profile] radiotelescope, schmike, [personal profile] crazybone, [profile] fangirl715, [personal profile] kissoflife, [personal profile] trowa_barton, [personal profile] hammercock, [personal profile] totient (who loaned what easels I did find on such short notice), [personal profile] miss_chance, [personal profile] infinitehotel, [personal profile] istemi, someone I didn't know in an MIT G&S shirt.
