festive 4th and all

Yes, I got to spend it on a boat in the river, which actually is pretty boring. since you have to stake out a mooring pretty early, and then you're sorta stuck there.
now imagine it in aglorified canoe dragonboat. (well, 2 dragonboats and a kayak.)
but, at least I've done it.
next time I decide to spend the 4th on the water, I want a boat with a cabin. or at least enough space that I can stretch out and nap. (curling up between dragon boat seats is not precisely comfy, even if it's dry, which it wasn't.)
I managed to make it through the fireworks without hypothermia. Go Me! Sigh.
Of all the times I coulda woulda shoulda brought a thermos of hot coffee. The Charles, of course, was warmer than the air all day, which was creepy enough. And, since a team member had just recovered from a week of intestinal misery from accidentally swallowing river water, we were fair terrified of capsizing.
We had the second boat to paddle about with, so all the folks marooned on their little square of esplanade, or little bit of mooring, could envy us. Other than that the lobster boat "next door", which had big red-orange floaty survival suits. They kept diving in and trying to swim over to steal our drums. We were all armed with paddles, so they eventually gave up.
And now off to Utica for my 11th annual 15K.
I may be a slow runner, but I'm an even slower learner.
