They can express who we are, and play the role of security blankies, but we should remember they are non-essential.

Sure, like I don't have fantasies of my house burning down so I can guiltlessly start fresh. It's just so hard to part with all the sentimental crap I use like a crutch for memory and sense of identity.
Know yourself for what you love, even if ideas, not for what you own.
