On a personal level, I am rather cynical about how much we can really do to change things, however, making zero effort gaurantees making zero difference, ergo:
Celebrity crush did result in my watching a lot of depressing footage yesterday. Not painful footage of carnage, just refugee camps. Depressing in that, while the situation is dreadful, the footage is simply not shocking enough to get a lot of mainstream media coverage, except maybe as entertainment news, "Look at what $CELEBRITY_ACTIVIST is bleeding over now".
Watching the not-as-edited clips, well, he knows the star power is essential. It simply won't look like altruism after the smug oscar speech. I'm sure enough of it is altruism. I'm personally not too upset if it is smugness, since he's at least trying to make a difference. (Still no reports of smugness changing his behavior to anything like a diva. We're the smug, post-modern, too clever audience that reduces every cause to marketing. Kids went to Jane Fonda's speech last weekend, and were shocked to find out she's not a whack-job. or something. Hmmm, I haven't solidified enough of my own opinions on this to merit a rant.)
I guess it's up to us armchair stalkers to propagate this memetically.

There is, apparently, no major event planned in central Boston. However, there is Dining for Darfur.
I don't already have plans Sunday *evening*. Anyone for dinner?
