[rto] Paperwhites

She suggests "forcing" paperwhites for an indoor bulb garden, with the goal of tying resolutions on the shoots as a novelty. It usually takes three weeks to bloom, which is how long it allegedly takes for a new habit to stick. Of course, my first thought is:

O look, more flowers for me to kill!

I wish I didn't have such a black thumb. I aspire to have The Pope as a housemate primarily because he can work plant miracles. (Until then, which may be lifetimes, I have a routine of bringing dying plants to him, "Save it from me!") I would love to have a lot more green in my home, looks pretty, naturally filters the air, etc.

[livejournal.com profile] coolwhitestare's new place has good light, lots of plants, and a dish of paperwhites being forced. I have such house envy. But probably not enough to turn my thumbs green. Alas.
