in boston it's "wii-tahded"
Feb. 4th, 2007 12:44 pmYesterday, I waddled home from Hammersley Bistro, where the tasty food lured me to overeat, and tried to just sit still and digest for a while. But my upstairs neighbors were atypically noisy.
Which is not to say that they're never loud.
Usually, they're noisy in their kitchen. These were new noises, right over my head. In the living room. Eventually, I had to go up and see what they were doing.
One of their friends had brought over his brand-new Wii. They were playing golf. Badly.
But, they were nearly finished, so they invited me to join them for a few rounds of bowling.
I won the first round. I made a mii character. A few times the game had to remind me how to use the controllers, which garnered snickers of "wii-tarded" from the peanut gallery. But, the peanut gallery hushes up pretty quickly when one starts positioning oneself to "accidentally" hurt them during the swing.
I could get into the bowling, sure, especially since I played much better than on screen than I do in person. However, when they switched over to a car racing game, just watching it made me twitchy and uncomfortable like most reaction-time dependent games. If you wii owners ever decide you'd be content with a night of bowling (and your living room is less of a hassle than to the nearest real world bowling lanes) just give a holler.
