vernal ras

Apparently, I haven't yet done up a table for my St. Patrick's Day runs. These are usually my first outdoor runs of the year.

year pace total race
2005 11:00 34:08 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5K
2004 12:34 42:41 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 3.4 miles
2003 12:18 41:46 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 3.4 miles
2002 12:08 48:30 An Ras Mor 4 Miler
2001 12:34 50:13 An Ras Mor 4 Miler

Weight-loss certainly helped, but give more credit to [livejournal.com profile] sirhc_warrior for motivating me to keep up. [livejournal.com profile] pheromone and [Hathor] came by to cheer, but were too late because I finished earlier than expected.

A great first race for Sirhc. They gave out medallions on ribbons as the finisher pins. Kinda suckful for volunteers, pheromone could only get into venues with us bib-enabled. No mile splits. Although, had I known I was going so fast, I might've slowed, so perhaps that was lucky.

As it turned out, had I been running closer to my old pace, I might've seen an old family friend (who is possibly the nicest person I know). We bumped into her after the ras, during an unsuccessful misson to find free scones.

I did manage to find scones at a private tea party later, along with a footrub. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] trg and [livejournal.com profile] hotpoint!
