well, I didn't get crabs
Jun. 18th, 2004 09:40 amBecause he expects to see this on LJ Phil the bald, in town at the last minute, tried to give me crabs on Wednesday.
Alas, they were out of soft shell crab, so I had monkfish instead, with fennel and pepper, and a side of asparagus. I even ate the asparagus. I lost my taste for it a few years ago, but, it was that or the rice.

The Red House is very quaint. It retains the feeling of a residence. The indoor dining rooms are small, all have fireplaces. The outdoor dining is some of the nicest I've seen in the square. And this is the best part they're open after 10 pm on schoolnights. (PtB arrived after my free screening got out.) We'd stopped at Grendel's, but they'd stopped serving outside at that hour, which mattered more than food. So we kept going. According to reviews, the service and the food at the Red House seems pretty dicey. They were good to us, even though we were there long after they stopped seating, and I liked the food. (I may not order monkfish again from anywhere, because the texture is... weird. But the flavor was nice.)
