perennial porch angst
Apr. 27th, 2004 02:48 pmThe time of year when I want to just hang out outside, and I have no outside to call my own. The cost of moving to as nice a place, but with an open porch, in my neighborhood, is still prohibitively high.
Outings do not entirely make up for this, even if on saturday alone, there are 2 may day morning celebrations, open studios, film festivals, a birthday+ party at an apartment with two (that's 2!) tasty open porches... and then there's sunday...
I definitely like having the lunchtime option of sitting at an umbrella table, on the edge of a woods. (I'd invite people to plan to visit for lunch, but that almost guarantees rain.) If it's nice around 11:30, and you need lunch plans, call.
for those of you who offered belated birthday gifts of dining outside in nice weather, it doesn't always have to be newbury st., it could be your porch.
I have scored my first free Kendall pass in months* for tomorrow night, and I'm hoping to get there early enough to enjoy the outdoor tables of CBC or one of its neighbors while I'm there. Wanna go see a mystery movie?
*The new "one pass a month" policy has decimated my movie habit. (well, along with being out of town so much lately.) People rarely offer the other half of their movie pass to me, as they assume I have one of my own.
