cthulhia: (devilgirl)
She references D.H. Lawrence's speculative fiction/alternate ending to the Resurrection, talking of how earthly, sensory pleasures are what inspire the sacred in us. Of course, she leaves out all the rampant sex. D.H. Lawrence puts the erection in Resurrection.Or so one might guess from the Amazon reviews of what appears to be the right book (not first published in 1926, like she says).

Our sappy author appears to be nurturing a streak of Life's Little Destruction Book. Go her! Picture all sorts of midwestern good Xians seeking out the story she mentions and finding Jesus getting it on with a Pagan goddess. Just imagining the sound of all their jaws hitting the floor gives me the warm fuzzies.

Ultimately, she wants you to appreciate the paradise that surrounds you. This would be significantly easier if I were a lesbian, or, at least, a little more capable of accepting offers in general. (The real problem may be I don't mind most of these folks touching me, but, I'd feel guilty because I'm not particularly interested in reciprocating, even though I know in many case they probably wouldn't care. Too many snarky comments akin to Is she dead, or just British? have poisoned me. Instead, I have to feel so interested in someone that they start grumbling because I pay too much attention to them. I wish I could find that middle ground.)

Tis narrow minded to only acknowledge sensory pleasures when overtly tied to sex. Hence why she left out the details of the D.H. Lawrence story.

To sum her up, follow these rules to recognize and appreciate the paradise that surrounds you.
1. excise your inner-skeptic.
2. listen to your intiution Follow your heart
3. indulge your imagination instead of preemptively dismissing it as too stupid. (In terms of trying something new, not feeding a non-productive obsession, which is too stupid, remember?)

Most of my friends are way ahead of me on such things, or were. Maybe you've forgotten. Good to be reminded.
